"You know" he said, "the valences you put on the windows last week really make the room look nice. You should buy some for the living room too."

He hadn't even noticed her hard work decorating the dining room, until now! And 'Mr. Tightwad' was actually suggesting that she spend more money decorating? This product was too good to be true! She was going to call all her friends tomorrow and tell them about it.

When she emerged, he was waiting for her, holding a framed print of Monet's "Water Lilies". She almost cried, she was so happy.

"I know it is your favorite. I think its time I take down that stupid rock star poster, and we put up something that fits our decor better. Don't you think?"

"Oh thank you! Its so lovely! And you even thought to get a frame that matches our furniture!"

She kissed him, and they held hands as they walked to the car.

The evening with Carol went wonderfully too. Monte was apologetic at first, and quiet. But he asked Carol questions, and listened intently to her answers. In time, she warmed up, and by the end of the evening, the bottle of wine drank up (along with two more from Carol's wine rack!), they were acting like old friends.

"You must come over some time so we can cook dinner for you" said Monte.

"I will. Thank you so much" said Carol, who waved to them as they drove home.

"She has really changed him for the better" thought Carol as she double locked her door. "He used to be a real clod, but now he is wonderful!"

Camille woke up at 6:30am, and couldn't get back to sleep. Monte looked so peaceful and content sleeping, so she got up to take a five mile run, and let him sleep in. She put on her sports bra and her sweats, then took off into the darkness, the glow of the first red rays of dawn just emerging in the east over the tree line.

She had time to really think during her run. She had never been so happy in all her life. She really loved Monte, and he had become the man she always had wished him to be.

When Camille got home, she was in for a big surprise. Monte was up, and had prepared a light breakfast for her. A grapefruit was cut up, sitting in a bowl on the table, along with a lite english muffin, jam and butter, yogurt, and a cup of hot tea. A single fresh flower from the garden was in a vase in the center of the table, with an identical setting for Monte opposite hers.

That was impressive, but there was a problem too. Monte was again wearing the Femme-In-Eyes, which he had now worn for the third day in a row. The had effected him so well up to this point, but now he had done something shocking.
